The latest iFixit teardown video reveals the Pixel Watch’s deepest secrets. There are some interesting quirks here—Google’s engineering is impressive yet questionable. But oddly enough, we’re more interested in the sticky stuff iFixit found inside this watch.
Opening the Pixel Watch is a pretty straightforward process. It’s like shucking a clam, sort of. You heat the device to soften its adhesive, run a thin prying tool around its rim (without hitting any cables), and pull the display from the watch’s body.
To our excitement, the Pixel Watch’s back panel is also easy to remove (and it isn’t attached to the watch’s sensors). This is where things get weird. As iFixit notes, the Pixel Watch’s back panel uses a very strange adhesive. It’s sticky, but it holds it shape and doesn’t fall apart.

We’re not sure what kind of adhesive Google is using here. But it looks way more manageable than the adhesives that hold other products together. If phones and smartwatches need to be lined with glue, we’d like to see this glue more often.
Other Pixel Watch quirks include the large speaker hole, which seems a bit precarious, and a display cable that isn’t very repair-friendly. But you can watch the teardown video to learn about that stuff.
