Huawei has officially launched its latest flagship lineup of phones, the HUAWEI Mate 50 Series.
Dubbed the “King of Flagship”, this series is released in conjunction with HUAWEI Mate series’ 10th-anniversary milestone. The series includes the HUAWEI Mate 50 and the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro.
Also revealed at the launch were the company’s new tablets, watch, and the HUAWEI nova 10 series.
HUAWEI Mate 50 series
Known for its symmetrical look, the Mate series returns with its iconic Space Ring Design. Something new, though, is the Clous de Paris step-patterned embossing, a type of pattern that forms a series of small pyramid-like squares, found on the ring.
The series comes with two different types of rear covers—glass and vegan leather. The latter is only available in the Orange variant of the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro.
The glass, on the other hand, is HUAWEI’s own Kunlun glass, which consists of 10 quadrillion-level nanocrystals, making it more resilient and drop-resistant.
As for the camera, these phones feature the Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera, HUAWEI’s own mobile imaging brand that features key advances in the optical system, mechanical structure, imaging technology, and image processing.
Not only that, but it also boasts a physical variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. By using a physical aperture, you can get a more natural-looking bokeh and you can manually tweak how much bokeh you want in your pictures more accurately than having software do it for you.
This new flagship series is the first to run on HUAWEI’s EMUI 13 operating system. The phones also support IP68-rated water resistance of up to 6 metres underwater.
The Pro version features a new low-battery emergency mode that auto-activates at 1% battery life to give users two hours of standby or 12 minutes of call time.
HUAWEI Mate 50 is priced at RM3,699. Meanwhile, the Black and Silver HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro is RM4,499, with the HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro Orange Vegan Leather going for RM5,299.
This series of flagship phones will be available for pre-order from November 3 to November 11 across HUAWEI’s experience stores, website, Shopee and Lazada pages, as well as other authorised partner stores such as SenHeng, senQ, Harvey Norman, and Urban Republic.
