I’ve had the opportunity to check out several Bluetooth speakers over the years. From a cool Pac-man option we won in a second-chance drawing from the Texas lottery to the iFox iF012 Bluetooth Shower Speaker I reviewed last year, and quite a few others along the way.
As far as the iFox, I used it every time I took a shower ever since I received it. But notice… I said “used.” About a month ago, I received one that not only sounds a LOT better, it looks super damn cool too.
I’m talking about the GravaStar Mars Pro and I can say with confidence that it’s the best sounding Bluetooth speaker I’ve ever had. Additionally, while there are six different options, the Special Edition – Aurochs they sent me is simply awesome looking.
Don’t let the image fool you, this thing is pretty big, solidly built, and has some really cool specs and features.
First and foremost, they create a powerful all-around sound via a dual speaker system. The Bluetooth 5.0 speaker has built-in, exclusive DSP audio algorithms that gives you deep bass, accurate mids, and crisp highs. Couple that with a passive bass radiator and equal-loudness contour and what you end up with is a powerful all-around sound.
Additionally, the Mars Pro has a 15-hour battery life, 6 RGB lights, and can be paired with another Mars Pro speaker to create a powerful stereo experience.
There’s also War Damaged Yellow, Special Edition – Shark 14 (which looks really really sweet), Special Edition Aquarius, and the basic black or white options that will still give you an excellent sound experience while saving you a few bucks over the other models.
The zinc-alloy sphere with unfolding legs is reminiscent of Star Wars droids but it’s the 6 dynamic RGB lights that really round out the look for this wireless Bluetooth speaker. You can either set it to a single steady color, have the colors gradually change automatically, or capture a little of that club feel and set it to go along to the beat of the music.
I’ve used it on the deck while grilling, in the kitchen and living room, and my cohost of ‘Into the Geekverse’ even used it at the beach on his last visit. And it sounds GREAT in every setting. However, it’s my shower time where I get the most enjoyment out of this sucker.
While my bathroom is admittedly small, the Mars Pro Aurochs fills it with music so well that my wife has to turn the TV way up in order to drown out my jam session. And she’s 1.5 rooms away.
They sound great, are definitely sturdy and durable, look cool as hell, and seem built to last. So… I can sincerely recommend this speaker and in fact, I wish I had two of them so I could pair them up for the surround sound experience.
And as Anthony “Sully” Sullivan always said, but wait… there’s more.
Gaming With Style
I also received a set of GravaStar Pro Sirius zinc alloy gaming earbuds and while I’ve only used standard earbuds for my phone, I have to say that I am impressed with these.
First, the case itself is zinc alloy and is sturdy enough that you never have to worry about them getting damaged, and big enough that they’ll never be able to hide in your gear bag. The charging dock itself is also metal, has lights, and the center is an actual bottle opener so that you’re always able to stay caffeinated and hydrated… or just enjoy a beer or three after winning yet another tourney.
Now… I do have to say that while it may be (and probably is) user error, I have a really difficult time getting the actual earbuds out of the charging case. My fingers don’t have the dexterity they once did and I’m sure there is some easy way to do it, but so far it has eluded me.
However… that’s the ONLY drawback I found.
GravaStar Pro Sirius Specs
These babies feature Knowles balanced armatures, exclusive DSP audio algorithms, Bluetooth 5.2 True Wireless Stereo, in-ear detection, 65ms latency, 3D surround sound, IPX 5, and even custom EQs for music, gaming, and movies. This means that no matter what you use them for, they deliver an immersive, crisp sound experience.
Gaming Mode – 5.1 virtual surround sound lets you pinpoint the direction of your enemy’s footsteps.
Movie Mode – HD surround sound gives you that full cinematic experience.
Music Mode – Feel like you’re in the front row at a concert with clear, natural vocals and a deep bass you can feel through your entire body.
Just like the Mars Pro, the Sirius Pro earbuds are available in several colors, including War-Damaged Yellow, War-Damaged Gray, Neon Green, Space Gray, and Matt Black.
Now, if that all sounds great to you, you need to tune in to the “Geek Insider: ’Into the Geekverse’ podcast and YouTube show. We’ll be running a contest in September and one lucky winner will walk away with a Matt Black pair of the Sirius Pro zinc alloy earbuds.
All-in-all, these two gadgets from GravaStar are top-of-the-line audio products that I think most everyone will really enjoy.
